Minnie made a tent on an old pedal sewing machine in Alabama for them to
live in when they went to Palm Beach. Everyone in Palm Beach lived in
tents. They came to Florida in a six cylinder Buick. It had cytaloyd
side curtains on the Buick. It took them 7 days and 7 nights to get
there. It was 1,000 miles back then. The roads went east and then
west, then south. On the way down the clutch burned out going through
all the sand and mud on the way there. The only brick road was in
Atlanta, St. Augustine. It was sand and mud all the way.
